No one wants to have photos taken when they feel out of shape. I certainly didn’t, and avoided the camera for two years. I have often regretted that I never took proper ‘before’ photos prior to starting my transformation. I guess I was afraid that if I didn’t succeed, then I’d be stuck with a bunch of awful photos as a reminder of my failure. I did, however, find a few pretty good shots that show more of what I really looked like in 2010 and 2011. I’ll be posting these two new photos on the ABOUT page as well.
I remember the bikini shot was particularly shocking at first view. Although my diet was disgraceful, I was lifting weights at the time and truly thought I looked OK in that suit. I know everything is relative, and I was never severely obese, but I was really out of shape. Here I’m sporting the abdominal upholstery otherwise know by my daughter as ‘the big baggy belly’.
The birthday shot was taken a few weeks before I started my new program. I was forced to wear the skirt because it was a warm day, and I had outgrown all of my shorts.
These photos help me when I’m questioning my progress. If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to take progress photos on a regular basis. Even if you’re not where you want to be with your goals, looking back will remind you how far you’ve come. I know it’s hard to do, but you’ll be glad you’ve got the solid documentation that validates your journey!
I have one more shot from behind that I’m saving to accompany my October progress photo. I’ll be posting these later in the month when I’ve mustered my courage!
