Stop Vilifying the Banana And Just Eat The Dang Thing!

How many times have you the seen that tired old rendering of the poor banana blinking at you alongside the “5 Things Never to Eat” internet ad? Well, I’ve seen it too many times to even discuss, and some programs are putting them in the same category as candy or other processed sugars. I’m tired of hearing about it.

They are fruit. They have fiber for satiety, loads of vitamins and minerals, are incredibly portable because they are fitted with proprietary packaging and sized just right (well SOME conventional varieties can grow to the size of your shoe but that’s what portions are all about).

Their calorie count matches about 1 slice of sprouted grain bread or 1/2 cup of brown rice.

In any case, please don’t ask me about bananas. They are a healthy carb that deserves your attention and space within your clean eating arsenal. Yes, they have a higher glycemic index than berries or apples. Yes monkeys like them. But that doesn’t mean they need to be ostracized from your shopping cart.

If it makes you feel any better you can limit them to breakfast or post-workout. But that’s all I’m gonna discuss about it.

If you like them, then eat them. Case closed.
